Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) PreK for All
The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is Michigan's state-funded preschool Program for four-year-old children with factors which may place them at risk of educational failure. The program is administered by the Michigan Department of Education, Office of Great Start. Funding is allocated to each intermediate school district to administer the program locally.
Research on preschool programs and specific research on GSRP indicates that children provided with a high-quality preschool experience show significant positive developmental differences when compared to children from the same backgrounds who did not attend a high-quality preschool program.

William G. Mather Preschool is a licensed child care center in Munising, MI. We are a Great Start Readiness Program Preschool, which means we are guided and run using State of Michigan guidelines. At William G. Mather Preschool, we enroll children ages 3.5-5. We are a medium-sized center open from 8:00am to 3pm four days a week. We believe that students learn best through play and exploration of things they are interested in. Therefore, we have many opportunities for play planned through out the day. Our small and large groups also expand on their interest and offer ways for them to discover. We combine a majority of our day with Early Childhood Special Education Preschool students as well, as they develop relationships, empathy, and communication together. Overall, students will experience school as a positive, safe place to learn and grow. While in preschool, students will have an opportunity to explore different parts of the school to prepare them for future success at Mather Elementary. Students will develop an appreciation and love for school resulting in positive attitudes toward future academic endeavors.
