Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) PreK for All
The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is Michigan's state-funded preschool program for four-year-old children with factors which may place them at risk of educational failure. The program is administered by the Michigan Department of Education, Office of Great Start. Funding is allocated to each intermediate school district to administer the program locally.
Research on preschool programs and specific research on GSRP indicates that children provided with a high-quality preschool experience show significant positive developmental differences when compared to children from the same backgrounds who did not attend a high-quality preschool program.

It is our philosophy here at Kids –R– Us Child Development Center, that each child should be treated as a unique individual with different interests, experiences, abilities, and needs. We believe that all children learn through a play based active exploration of their environment and that the richer the environment, the more opportunities there are for children to observe, to be active, to make choices, and to experiment.

William G. Mather Preschool is a licensed childcare center in Munising, MI. We are a Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Preschool, which means we are guided and run using State of Michigan guidelines. At William G. Mather Preschool, we enroll children ages 3.5-5. We are a medium-sized center open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. five days a week. We believe that students learn best through play and exploration of things they are interested in. Therefore, we have many opportunities for play planned throughout the day. Our small and large groups also expand on their interest and offer ways for them to discover. We combine a majority of our day with Early Childhood Special Education Preschool students as well, as they develop relationships, empathy, and communication together. Overall, students will experience school as a positive, safe place to learn and grow. While in preschool, students will have an opportunity to explore different parts of the school to prepare them for future success at Mather Elementary. Students will develop an appreciation and love for school resulting in positive attitudes toward future academic endeavors.
